Do you know who to contact if you are suddenly in need of assistance? Help is just a phone call away. 2-1-1 is a three digit phone number where anyone can get information about health and human services. Dial 2-1-1 from your telephone to reach one of Indiana's 2-1-1 Centers. Trained Information & Referral Specialists will discuss your health and human services needs and assist you with information or referrals to community resources. These needs could be housing, employment, legal aid, counseling and much more. Our area is operated by Northwest Indiana Community Action Agency. The goal of this organization is to reach all Hoosiers. Currently the IN211 is primarily supported by private dollars from United Way, community foundations, grants and individual donors. Ideally a fully functional statewide system would be funded with 1/3 federal, 1/3 state and 1/3 local funding. IN211 calls are free to the caller other than normal usage costs per minute which apply to cell phone calls. For further information contact our local Pulaski County Human Services at 574-946-6500 or at their website http://hservices.pulaskionline.org/ Check out the fact sheet at http://www.in211.org/mediacenter/media.htm for a media packet.
